I think it would be better to cutting each face (peel) of the door separately, using a saw with very trivial penetration.
It would exist a good idea to mucilage thin strips of forest between the faces around the cutting opening to hold the faces the proper distance from each other.
Cull louvers of a size so they fit completely on a flat function of the door face all the style effectually. Cut the pigsty a lilliputian smaller leaving a edge of almost an inch to get under the louver all the way around.
Information technology might work better if you use bolts and nuts property the louvers on both faces together as opposed to wood screws for each louver.
The Tamarack door linked to higher up is not easily built as DIY from an off the shelf hollow door. A new structural member would have to be made (kitbashed) to go near the bottom of the door above the vent and between the two faces and betwixt the two stiles.
